The San Francisco 49ers reportedly worked out former Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders on Tuesday.

Sanders, who went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft after spending two seasons at Colorado, was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to the 2025 season. He is the son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and brother of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

The defensive back recorded four tackles and one QB hit in the preseason with Tampa Bay. He was ejected from their preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills after throwing a punch at Bills tight end Zach Davidson. He was eventually fined $4,669 by the NFL for the play and was subsequently released.

“Most definitely. He’s my son,” Deion Sanders responded when asked whether he had spoken with Shilo following the release. “I’m proud of my kids – all of them. I prepared my kids for any and everything that could possibly happen in life and in sports. That’s part of fathering, that’s part of parenting, that’s part of having a relationship. He is, mentally, where he needs to be. Physically, where he needs to be.

“We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team. But if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forth to what he’s going to do next. Shilo’s a man of many talents. … He’s going to be straight. All the Sanders’ are going to be straight, with our without football. You’d better believe that. You’d better believe that. I take care of mine. And I always have, and y’all know what I mean.”

In two seasons with Colorado, Sanders recorded 99 tackles, three TFL, one sack and one interception. He could now potentially be joining a San Francisco 49ers organization that has opened the season 3-0.
