Report: Shedeur Sanders victim of home break-in during Browns vs. Ravens NFL debut

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders was a victim of a home break-in during his NFL debut on Sunday. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, there was a break-in at Sanders’ home, and the details are still being gathered.
The incident came after several NFL players became victims of home break-ins. Sanders joins a group that includes Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan.
Shedeur Sanders made his NFL debut in the second half of Sunday’s 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He took over for fellow rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who suffered a concussion. Sanders completed four of 16 passes for 47 yards and one interception. He also rushed for 16 yards on three carries in the loss.

“I don’t think I played good,” Sanders said after the game, per ESPN. “I don’t think I played good at all. I think there’s a lot of things we need to look at during the week and go and just get comfortable with even throwing routes with [wide receiver] Jerry [Jeudy] and throwing routes with all those guys. I think that was my first ball to him all year. But other than that, I just think overall, we just got to go next week and understand, so that we have a week to prepare stuff I like to do.”

“We trust all of our guys,” Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski said. “We trust our guys to perform. [Sanders is] no different. And playing a backup quarterback role, as we’ve talked about over the years, that’s tough to come in there. But we trust him. I know there’s things that he’s going to want to do better, but that’s why we work.”
The Browns selected Sanders in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft. The 23-year-old was projected to be a first-round pick after having a standout 2024 season for the Colorado Buffaloes. In 2024, Sanders completed 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns. He led Colorado to a 9-4 record, and he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
