Rex Ryan: Shedeur Sanders 'should be embarrassed' he's not the Browns starting quarterback

Rex Ryan has seen enough of Joe Flacco. He believes it’s time for the Cleveland Browns to inject some youth into their offense, turning the keys of the car over to either Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel.
The Browns are 1-3 at the moment, and while they have a huge win over the Green Bay Packers to their name, their offense has been putrid. They’re averaging just 14 points per game, and Ryan wants to see Sanders go out and take the starting gig, instead of talking to the media about his abilities.
“Believe it,” Ryan stated, regarding whether the Browns should bench Flacco via Get Up. “Shedeur Sanders — ‘Why is Shedeur not in there?’ Well, I don’t know. Are you sitting in the back of the meeting rooms with scout-team receivers? If you are, get your butt in the front. You probably would be starting.
“But this guy (Flacco) can’t play. He can’t play anymore. He couldn’t play eight years ago. He’s your starting quarterback? Give me an absolute break. We saw the difference that Jaxson Dart made with the Giants. This move has to happen.
“I don’t care who it is. I don’t care — doesn’t matter. The little lefty guy that’s under six foot? (Dillon Gabriel). I don’t care — put somebody in there.”
Moreover, Teddy Bruschi agreed with Ryan’s sentiment. He believes the Browns’ fantastic defense is at risk of losing confidence in their head coach’s decision making, especially if they continue to stick with Flacco moving forward.
“They are coming off a big win, though, a couple weeks ago. You saw what Jaxson Dart did to a football team. When you inject a little bit of young energy. When we’re watching practice as defenders and teammates of Dillon Gabriel and the other quarterbacks (Sanders), and you see Flacco — ‘Can they do more for us?’

“We figure it out ourselves, too. When that answer is given to us — like yes, you can take off emotionally.”
In the end, it’s up to Sanders to go out and prove he needs to be the Browns starting quarterback, and Ryan made a passionate plea for that to happen: “I look at Kevin Stefanski as — I mean, an outstanding coach, all right — but why the hell isn’t he putting Shedeur Sanders in?” he added.
“We’re all waiting to see this, Shedeur Sanders be the guy, or Gabriel or whatever. Something’s missing. Something’s missing with this kid. This kid talks—he runs his mouth like — ‘I could be a starting quarterback,’ with his arms crossed like this. Get your ass in the front row and study and do all that.
“If I know, the whole league knows. Quit being an embarrassment that way. You’ve got the talent to be the quarterback you should be. You should be embarrassed that you’re not the quarterback.”
All told, Flacco has put together a tremendous career, but it seems like Gabriel or Sanders will get the call sooner rather than later. It’s a matter of when, not if — it just remains to be seen if Sanders’ play will back up his confidence in the NFL.
