Robert Saleh not worrying about job security amid Jets' 4-game losing streak

The New York Jets entered the 2023 season with Super Bowl aspirations. A lofty goal, yes, for a franchise which hasn’t hoisted the Lombardi trophy since 1969, yet one that seemed attainable with Aaron Rodgers under center.
There’s only one problem: Rodgers isn’t available and hasn’t been since tearing his Achilles just four plays into the season. Without the four-time NFL MVP, the Jets have underwhelmed — and that’s putting it mildly. At 4-7, riding a four-game losing streak and trotting out journeyman Tim Boyle at the most important position on the field, the Jets’ once promising season appears to be headed to a sad close barring a miraculous December return from Rodgers.
And following the 34-13 Week 12 defeat to the Miami Dolphins (8-3) Friday, a game in which the Jets mustered up just 159 total yards, head coach Robert Saleh addressed his job security moving forward.
“I’m not worried about that,” Saleh said.
Saleh probably shouldn’t be, as the plan coming into the season revolved around Rodgers elevating those around him to pair alongside one of the league’s best defenses. But with Boyle and Zach Wilson before him trying to make things work behind a makeshift offensive line, New York has had virtually no shot at staying above water.

Robert Saleh sticking with Tim Boyle as Jets’ skid continues
Saleh benched the latter and demoted him to QB3 following Week 11, paving the way for Boyle to get the start against Miami. Trailing for most of the game, Boyle completed 27-of-38 passes for 179 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Despite the uneven performance, Saleh made it clear the 29-year-old will once again be the starter in Week 13.
“Obviously, there’s things that he could have done better, there’s things that he had no control over and I know he battled out there,” Saleh said. “We were able to get to certain calls that we were hoping to do. We were able to execute a lot of the different things that we wanted to execute, it just didn’t come to full fruition.”
Boyle and New York’s next attempt at getting off the schneid will come against the Atlanta Falcons (4-6) next Sunday.
