For Rodney Childers, his job at JR Motorsports for 2026 has already started. He’s in his new office, and suffice to say, he loves it. Childers is going to be working with the No. 1 team in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. That is a unique job next season.

Carson Kvapil and Connor Zilisch are going to share the No. 1 car. It is a unique opportunity for Rodney Childers and both of those young drivers to work with each other. Kvapil feels like a perfect match with Childers, and the O’Reilly cars are going to be a lot of fun for the crew chief to tinker around with.

Childers is getting settled into his new home. He shared an image of his new office when he got to work this morning. 2026 starts right now for this group.

Another driver who is going to be at JR Motorsports in 2026 is Rajah Caruth. The young group that JRM is going to have with Kvapil/Caruth/Zilisch/Sammy Smith is elite. Throw Justin Allgaier in the mix and that group is going to be racing for a lot of wins next season. Pretty much where they left off in 2025.

Childers also caught up with Caruth at JRM today. Those two are practically going to be living at the shop from now on. Two hard workers who are likely going to find success next season with their respective teams. Caruth will be in the 88 car part-time.

Having Rodney Childers at the race track on a weekly basis moving forward will be nice. He went to Spire Motorsports to work with Justin Haley. Well, that didn’t work out too well. Childers was out of a job by the Spring and that No. 7 team never got back on track. Haley is going Truck Series racing for Kaulig Ram Trucks next year.

Next season is big opportunity for Rodney Childers

I think that most NASCAR fans would like to see Rodney Childers succeed next year. He has been such a big part of the sport in recent years. So, this chance to go race in the O’Reilly Series with JRM is a big opportunity. Like a driver who has had a couple of bad seasons, Childers is looking to prove he’s still got what it takes.

Of course, Childers has kept himself busy. He’s not a stranger around the CARS Tour, especially with Keelan Harvick making his way up through the ranks. When you have Rodney wrenching on your car, you know you’re in good hands.

With JR Motorsports and his two talented drivers, I fully expect Rodney Childers to win and win a lot. Kvapil is just on the verge of a big breakthrough. Zilisch is going to be even better than he was this season. On top of his Cup Series schedule, he can run unlimited O’Reilly races, but can’t race for the driver’s championship.
