With the 2-11 New York Giants on a bye week, veteran quarterback Russell Wilson is doing something unique. The quarterback will join CBS Sports as a guest analyst this Sunday.

Wilson, who is in the midst of his 14th NFL season, opened the year as New York’s starting quarterback but has since been benched for rookie Jaxson Dart. Wilson was a healthy scratch for the first time in his storied career in Monday night’s 33-15 loss to the New England Patriots.

Wilson’s first two games as a New York Giant were promising, as he threw for 618 yards, three touchdowns, and just one interception. Although New York lost both games, it seemed as if the veteran quarterback would be solid for the franchise.

Following this two-game stretch, however, Wilson just didn’t quite look like himself. He was benched for Dart in New York’s week four matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers and didn’t start another game. Although Dart missed two games due to a concussion, third-string quarterback Jameis Winston earned the start in both games.

Russell Wilson has no plans on leaving team prior to end of season

Wilson was demoted to QB3 following Winston’s promotion and was even a healthy scratch on Monday night. However, he has no plans of leaving the team prior to the end of the season.

“Yeah, I love it here,” Wilson said on Nov. 12, per SNY. “I love my teammates and I want to see us turn it around. God’s got a great plan for me. I don’t know what it is today, this second as I stand here — meaning that I just want to wake up and have a great practice today. Want to have a great practice today, I’m zoned in on that. I want to see it through.”

“I haven’t asked for a release or anything like that, because I want to be here. But I think for me, I just want to get better every day. I still want to keep playing football — I love it, obviously. And I feel like I’ve still got it. So that’s what I want to be able to do.”

With just four games remaining in the season, it appears as if ‘Dangeruss’ could potentially be soft-launching his post-football career. Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million contract with New York prior to the season, meaning he will be a free agent in just a matter of weeks.
