In what felt impossible in previous races, Ryan Blaney managed to go from P13 to P1 in two laps, and captured the win at Daytona. That is like something you hear about old-school drivers doing back when there was no NASCAR Next Gen car.

Ryan Blaney delivered what might be the best superspeedway performance in the Next Gen era. With seven laps to go in the race, the field went back to green. It was a chess match at 195+ MPH between 30+ drivers.

It looked like Cole Custer managed to take control and had just two corners to put the race away. Then Blaney made his final move and showed why he’s a NASCAR Cup Series champion.

Check out the onboard of the final two laps of the race. Absolutely fantastic racing, just watch the video.

“Let’s f***ing go! Yes!” Blaney said on the radio after the win. This is the 15th career win for Blaney in the Cup Series. He has now won eight races between 2023 and today.

It wasn’t long ago when people were wondering if Ryan Blaney would ever turn into a consistent winner. Well, his average finish in the last six races is 4.83 as the Cup Series starts the playoffs. It’s going to be very interesting to see what this 12 team does these next 10 weeks of the season.

For the second time in his career, Ryan Blaney has won the Daytona summer race. He last won this race back in 2021. With how well Blaney has been performing lately, it wouldn’t be shocking to see another deep playoff run out of him.

Get this, in the last three races of the season in 2023 and 2024 (Homestead, Martinsville, Phoenix), Blaney has the same exact finishes? P2, P1, and P2 are his results in the final three races of the season the last two years. That has led him to finish as champion and runner-up in those seasons. It is really just a matter of getting to the Round of 8 for Blaney.

There are times when a team is building momentum and a win feels inevitable. Blaney and the 12 team had started to get in that territory where each week it felt like they were one or two adjustments away from winning races. This week, it all came together and in dramatic fashion, too.

Ryan Blaney gave NASCAR fans another photo finish at Daytona. Can he deliver another exciting playoff run?
