Good thing Ryan Blaney won at New Hampshire last week. He was in the wall hard today at Kansas and wrecked his car. Blaney and the 12 team will hope that the car can be fixed. If not, they will go to a backup.

Team Penske appears to have gone very aggressive on the tire pressures. Ryan Blaney lost a left rear tire and then was in the wall quickly. He dragged his car down the wall until he was able to get it to a stop.

Joey Logano later had an issue of his own, but saved his car. This was a hard hit for Blaney in practice. That win means so much more a week later than it did just a day ago.

Kansas is a track that Team Penske can do well at. Right now, it appears that tire pressures are not where they need to be. If two of their three cars had issues, then there is a problem to address.

Ryan Blaney is going to be fine. Starting in the rear won’t be a major issue. He is going to race his race, and honestly, it might even be less pressure. His car was wrecke,d and he’s in the back, and no matter what, he moves on to the next round.

Had he started P5 in the race, then he could talk himself into having to compete for the win and a chance for disappointment. Now, it’s a carefree day where any improvement from where he starts will be welcomed.

The NASCAR Playoffs create pressure. Even for drivers who have advanced, the work never ends. If anything, the 12 team will try to find something they can carry over to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks.

Ryan Blaney will be fine, but wreck is warning to Penske

The bottom line is that Ryan Blaney is going to be just fine after all of this. However, Team Penske has been put on notice. Blaney had his tire issue, and then Logano had one of his own. While the 22 got it woah’d down without damage, it is still a problem.

Now, Austin Cindric is going to go into qualifying, not sure what is going to happen with his car or tires. Having a good qualifying lap will matter a lot for Cindric and Logano. Being able to trust their tires will determine whether they have a good enough race to remain in the conversation going into the Roval.

Drivers can advance with a win in this race, and they can also put themselves in a bad spot going into elimination. No one wants to be double digits under the cutline going to the oval-road course hybrid. It is too risky.

While Ryan Blaney was the warning, this could potentially get worse for Team Penske. We’ll see if this becomes an issue in qualifying or in the race on Sunday.
