Ryan Clark accuses Jerry Jones of 'wrecking car on purpose' in Cowboys criticism

A four-game losing streak follows the Dallas Cowboys into Monday Night Football. Houston comes to town for an in-state primetime battle where the home team is an underdog. Seemingly nothing has gone well for Dallas this season after talking all offseason about being “all-in” on winning a Super Bowl.
Not too many additions were made to the roster by GM Jerry Jones. If there were, not many viewed them as positive moves, worthy of finally getting over a nearly 30-year hump. Now, it’s a season trending in the wrong direction quite quickly.
ESPN’s Ryan Clark has a theory as to why Jones was not proactive in adding multiple big-time free agents to help the Cowboys out. He compared the Cowboys to an old teammate of his, looking to avoid being in trouble with coaches.
“I had a homeboy one time in training camp and he was going to miss curfew,” Clark said. “And on the way back, he wrecked his car on purpose because he said ‘If I wreck my car on purpose, at least I got an excuse as to why I ain’t here.’

“Right now, Jerry Jones has been wrecking his car on purpose this entire season. He’s been trying to give us an excuse as to why he didn’t go out and make this team a championship contender.”
Multiple injuries have plagued Dallas thus far, most notably Dak Prescott. But even when Prescott was out there, wins were not stacking up as they held a 3-5 record. Multiple blowout losses at AT&T Stadium occurred as the franchise has been embarrassed in front of the home crowd on four occasions.
But to Clark, there is a built-in excuse for Jones as to why the 2024 season will ultimately be deemed a failure for the Cowboys. The “car wreck” worthy offseason is finally showing itself in November and will continue until the finale against Washington on Jan. 5.
