U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley announced Wednesday the 12-man roster that will go head-to-head against Team Europe at Bethpage Black in Long Island, N.Y., Sept. 26-28. Six players automatically qualified on points. Bradley was tasked with picking six players to round out the roster.

The big question was would Bradley pick himself, thus becoming the first U.S. captain to play since Arnold Palmer in 1963. Bradley chose not to play, instead going with Sam Burns with his final captain’s pick.

Automatic Qualifiers

  • J.J. Spaun
  • Xander Schauffele
  • Russell Henley
  • Harris English
  • Bryson DeChambeau

Captain’s Picks

2025 U.S. Ryder Cup roster is set with no Keegan Bradley

Bradley is the 11th best player in the Official World Golf Ranking, and he was 11th in the Ryder Cup standings. He’s played in just one Ryder Cup — 2014 — but was surprisingly left off the 2023 team that played in Rome. Bradley fought with the decision, at first saying he would only play if he were one of the six automatic qualifiers.

Things changed as Bradley’s 2025 season trended upward. He finished eighth at the PGA Championship in May before winning the Travelers Championship just one month later. Bradley did what — in his mind — was best for the team. That led him to choose Burns, who ranked No. 1 on the PGA Tour this season in strokes gained putting (0.924) and putting Inside 10 feet (90.79%).

“The decision was made a while ago that I wasn’t playing,” Bradley said. “The last 48 hours, we had the team set and we weren’t scrambling at all. This was a really tough decision. I would say there was a point this year where I was playing — a while ago — and all these guys stepped up in a major way and played their way on to this team.

“That’s something I’m really proud of and something I really wanted. But it was an extremely difficult decision and one that I’m really happy with. Really happy with these six players and I’m glad it’s over.”

Bradley is glad the selection process is over. Now, the focus shifts to avenging the 16.5-11.5 loss to Team Europe in the 2023 Ryder Cup. The six Europeans who have already qualified are Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Rasmus Højgaard and Tyrrell Hatton. Captain Luke Donald will make his six captain’s picks this coming Monday.
