Heading into Super Bowl Sunday, just one team remains without a head coach. The New Orleans Saints have extended their search for quite some time but with good reason. Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is not only considered a top candidate but the favorite too.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided the latest of New Orleans and Moore, saying the process still needs to play out between them. That will take place once the Eagles are done with the Super Bowl, attempting to stay in line with NFL rules. But as of Wednesday, Moore is “shaping up” to be the next Saints head coach.

“He is coaching Sunday in the Super Bowl in the Superdome and it’s shaping up for Kellen Moore to stay in New Orleans as the Saints next head coach,” Schefter said. “The Saints are doing everything they can to obey the rules and make sure they don’t do anything illegal or that the Eagles could come after them on. But barring a change of heart, it is shaping up for Kellen Moore to be the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints. The Saints will look to speak to him again next week to see if they can get a deal done.”

Moore would be a first-time head coach after spending six seasons as a coordinator. His coaching career began with the Dallas Cowboys not too long after retiring from playing, serving as the quarterbacks coach. Dallas, Philadelphia, and the Los Angeles Chargers have all employed Moore as an offensive coordinator.

Not too many other candidates are still out there for Moore. Nothing can be made official until after the Super Bowl but there appears to be a marriage waiting to happen.

Nick Sirianni reacts to Kellen Moore potentially leaving Philadelphia

All focus for the Eagles is on Sunday’s Super Bowl against Kansas City. But the questions about Moore were still present for Nick Sirianni when recently speaking to the media. He might not be looking forward to losing his OC but Sirianni is confident Moore will do well as a head coh.

“With Kellen, and I know that there’s opportunities, potentially, you know what happens will happen, but hopefully I’ve done my job to teach him the things that I know and help him, like other coaches have helped me as far as that goes,” Sirianni said. “But I know that when Kellen does get his opportunity, I think he’s highly detailed in teaching the game of football. I think that he loves this game. He works extremely hard. He’s got a great offensive mind to help our guys, to put our guys in positions to succeed and get better.

“And man, he’s a phenomenal person, great person to work with. That’s so important right? When we’re spending more time with each other than we are with our families, our wives, our kids. It’s important that you have good people around, and he- as good of a football coach as he is- he’s an even better person, so I got a lot of respect there. And for Kellen and we’ll see how that plays out at the end of the year.”
