The NASCAR Xfinity Series has qualified at the Brickyard. Sam Mayer is the fastest driver in the field and on the pole for today. Mayer and his Haas Factory Team group are hoping to stay in that position throughout the afternoon.

Haas looks sporty right now. Sam Mayer P1 and Sheldon Creed P3. Indianapolis demands the best out of teams and drivers. There will be challenges thrown at these drivers as they try to win at one of the sport’s most hallowed grounds.

Connor Zilisch is looking to win his third race in a row. With how great he has been in the Xfinity Series lately, I wouldn’t put it past him. There is a real chance we see JR Motorsports get that 100th organization win today.

Everyone is chasing Sam Mayer to start the Xfinity Series race today. Can he get his first win of the season today?

This could be a big weekend for Haas. Getting either Sam Mayer or Sheldon Creed into Victory Lane would be a big lift to the season for that organization. We know that this team is capable of winning races and competing for championships. But they have to put it all together on the track.

This is going to be a track position battle. But there could be a few interesting surprises in store for us.

Sam Mayer earns first pole award of 2025

Today’s pole award is the first of the year for Sam Mayer. His last two races didn’t go according to plan. Finishes of P17 and P12 are not up to the standard that Mayer has set for himself in the last few seasons.

Twice this year, Mayer has been runner-up. He has eight total top-five finishes in 2025 but hasn’t been much of a factor lately. Indianapolis could be where all of that changes for Mayer and his team. More of a road course racer, at least with the wins he has, Mayer is capable of getting the job done today.

Connor Zilisch is the driver everyone is watching. Starting P7 later today, Zilisch has been on a heater lately. His last two months have been the best racing of his young career. Of course, Justin Allgaier is right there in P8. Carson Kvapil and Sammy Smith fire off P10 and P11. All of the JRM cars are in contention if things go right.

Sam Mayer is in control, for now. He has nothing but clear windshield out in front of him and a lot of speed behind the wheel. Can he punch through the noise and win a race this season at what might be the most important time in the season?
