Scottie Scheffler breaks Wanamaker Trophy after winning 2025 PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler broke the Wanamaker Trophy after winning the 2025 PGA Championship on Sunday. The top part of the trophy came off, and Scheffler attempted to fix it.
Scheffler won his 15th tournament in the PGA Tour and third major championship. He held off Jon Rahm, who was tied with Scheffler at one point during the final round.
“Just a lot of happiness,” Scheffler said, per ESPN. “I think, you know, just maybe thankful as well. It was a long week. I felt like this was as hard as I battled for a tournament in my career. This was a pretty challenging week.”
Scheffler also talked about finishing strong in the back nine of the final round. “This back nine will be one that I remember for a long time,” Scheffler said. “It was a grind out there. I think at one point on the front, I maybe had a four- or five-shot lead, and making the turn, I think I was tied for the lead. So to step up when I needed to the most, I’ll remember that for a while.”

Scottie Scheffler wins PGA Championship one year after arrest
It was fitting for Scottie Scheffler to win the PGA Championship after what happened last year. On May 17, 2024, Scottie Scheffler was arrested at the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. A Louisville Metro Police officer said the golf pro disobeyed his command to stop and he attempted to drive around a crash scene on a media. Scheffler was charged with felony assault and several misdemeanors. The charges were dropped 12 days later.
“Last year, sometimes it still doesn’t almost feel real,” Scheffler said. “It really doesn’t. It’s just one of those deals that I really don’t know how to describe it. But I can tell you it’s very sweet sitting here with the trophy this year.
This was Scheffler’s second tournament win of 2025. His first came earlier this month when he won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at the TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
