Scottie Scheffler hit a chip-in birdie en route to winning the 2025 BMW Championship on Sunday. Scheffler made the shot on the 71st hole (17th in the final round), and that helped him take a two-shot lead.

It’s been a memorable 2025 season for Scottie Scheffler. The former Texas Longhorn has won five tournaments, including two major championships (PGA Championship, Open Championship). The BMW Championship win was big for Scheffler because he will take home $3.6 million and is on top of the FedEX Cup standings.

Breaking it down a little more, Scheffler has been on a strong run in the last two years. During that time, Scheffler has won 12 PGA Tour events , the Hero World Challenge and an Olympic Gold medal.

Scottie Scheffler gets candid before the Open Championship

As great as Scheffler has been, he has openly talked about golf not being the one thing that defines him. “That’s something that I wrestle with on a daily basis,” Scheffler said in July before the Open Championship, per ESPN. “It’s like showing up at the Masters every year; it’s like why do I want to win this golf tournament so badly? Why do I want to win the Open Championship so badly? I don’t know because, if I win, it’s going to be awesome for two minutes.”

Scheffler also talked about sometimes not understanding the point of winning. “Is it great to be able to win tournaments and to accomplish the things I have in the game of golf? Yeah, it brings tears to my eyes just to think about it because I’ve literally worked my entire life to be good at this sport,” Scheffler said. “To have that kind of sense of accomplishment, I think, is a pretty cool feeling. To get to live out your dreams is very special, but at the end of the day, I’m not out here to inspire the next generation of golfers. I’m not out here to inspire someone to be the best player in the world, because what’s the point?”
