Scottie Scheffler takes Claret Jug to 'Happy Gilmore 2' premiere after winning Open Championship

Scottie Scheffler, who won the Open Championship on Sunday, took the Claret Jug trophy to the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere. The PGA Tour X/Twitter account shared a photo of Scheffler holding the Claret Jug while attending the event in New York City.
Netflix Sports shared a video of Scottie Scheffler holding the trophy during an interview. He told the reporter the Claret Jug is for winning the Open Championship.
It made sense for Scheffler to bring the Claret Jug since he’s still celebrating his fourth major championship. On Sunday, the top golfer in the world finished 17-under 267 to win his second major this year and earn the third leg of the career grand slam. The former Texas star won the Masters in 2022 and 2024 and won the PGA Championship earlier this year. Scheffler has yet to win the U.S. Open but finished second in 2022.
“Being able to walk up 18 with the tournament in hand is a really tough thing to describe. It’s a really cool feeling,” Scheffler said on Sunday, per ESPN. “I have a lot of gratitude towards being able to accomplish something like this.

Scottie Scheffler is featured in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’
“It’s taken a lot of work — not only a lot of work, but it takes a lot of patience. It’s a high level of focus over 72 holes of a tournament. This was, I felt like, one of my best performances mentally.”
Scottie Scheffler wasn’t invited to the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere just because he’s a golf superstar. He was invited because he’s in the film which also stars Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, Chris McDonald and Ben Stiller. Scheffler is one of the many golfers in the film, as it also features Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Xander Schauffele and Bubba Watson, among others.
Happy Gilmore 2 is the sequel to the 1996 movie Happy Gilmore, which made $41.2 million at the box office worldwide. The new film will premiere on Netflix Friday, July 25..
