Seattle Seahawks release Noah Fant ahead of training camp

The Seattle Seahawks have released tight end Noah Fant, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Fant spent three seasons with the Seahawks.
The former Iowa standout was traded from the Denver Broncos to Seattle in March 2022, along with two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, quarterback Drew Lock and defensive lineman Shelby Harris in exchange for quarterback Russell Wilson. Fant immediately made an impact for the Seahawks, tallying 50 catches for 486 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the team.
Fant followed up the standout season with another solid year in 2023. Fant notched 32 catches for 414 yards in his second season with the Seahawks, but didn’t record a touchdown. Last season, Fant stepped up his game, logging 48 receptions, 500 yards and a touchdown.
Evidently, the Seahawks weren’t moved by Fant’s performances and the team opted to move on from him. Fant was on a two-year, $21 million contract extension with the Seahawks, which he’d agreed to on March 13, 2024.
Noah Fant played college football at Iowa, where he spent three years. During his time with the Hawkeyes, Fant amassed 78 catches for 1,082 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was an All-Big Ten First-Team selection in 2018 and an All-Conference Third-Team member in 2017.
Nick Emmanwori, Seahawks agree on historic rookie deal
The Seahawks’ decision to release Fant wasn’t the team’s only roster move this past week. On Thursday, the Seahawks and defensive back Nick Emmanwori reached an agreement on a fully-guaranteed contract, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It is the first time in NFL history that the No. 35 overall pick has received a fully-guaranteed rookie deal. Emmanwori was a standout at South Carolina this past season, recording 88 tackles and four interceptions, two of which he returned for a touchdown.
For his efforts, Emmanwori was named a unanimous First-Team All-SEC selection and also earned First-Team All-American honors from AP, Sporting News and the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Emmanwori was named a member of On3’s True Freshman All-American team in 2022.
All of the first three selections from the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft have been signed to guaranteed deals. This distinction was previously reserved for first-round draft choices only.
The Seattle Seahawks posted a 10-7 record last season and finished second in the NFC West. Alas, they missed out on the NFL Playoffs for the second consecutive season. With new talent like Emmanwori on the team, the Seahawks will look to reach new heights in the 2025 campaign.
