Sebastian Murray, Ricardo Escotto involved in terrifying airborne wreck in Indy NXT at Mid-Ohio

An absolutely terrifying crash broke out in the Indy NXT race at Mid-Ohio with Sebastian Murray and Ricardo Escotto coming together. The two young drivers got into each other, hit the wall, and it sent one of the cars flipping through the air.
When these cars came to a stop, there were parts and pieces all over the place. Wheels were rolling around, drivers were dodging the debris field as they passed by, and everyone held their breath for a moment.
This was a scary crash, no doubt. Just a monster hit by Murray and Escotto in the worst possible place for it. Both drivers were checked and released from the care center.
Murray, 18, hails from Scotland. Escotto is a 20-year-old driver from Mexico. This Indy NXT series is very international with the drivers competing in it. These are two inexperienced drivers who are still developing. These moments go a long way to preventing future moments like this. Neither of these drivers wants to be caught up in a mess like this again.
Mid-Ohio has had its fair share of wrecks. This one has to be up there with one of the biggest ever. Here is another look:
What a hit. Murray and Escotto were the only two DNFs. Both drivers compete for Andretti Cape, which fields an extensive roster of drivers in this series. A little friendly fire is difficult to avoid when so many of your competitors are also your teammates.

A tough end to the day for these two drivers. That will be a tough team meeting to have on Monday.
Indy NXT drivers talk about terrifying crash at Mid-Ohio
After leaving the care center, both drivers spoke to the FS1 broadcast about what happened. The only problem is, they werenāt super sure what happened.
āYeah, I mean, itās super unfortunate, honestly. Iām not really sure what happened. Weāll have to have a look at the video when we get back,ā Sebastian Murray said. āBut Iām just glad everyoneās okay, and massive thank you to the safety team. Theyāve done a great job, they were on the scene very, very quickly. So, massive thank you to them, and obviously, apologies to the team. Itās been a good weekend so far and we were hoping to make our way up, but yeah, things happen. Weāll move forward and hopefully, yeah, we can perform better.ā
Ricardo Escotto was also asked about the wreck. He had a lot of emotions about the incident. Escotto is placing a lot of the blame on his teammate.
āYeah, thank God Iām okay. You know, it was a very scary one. Thanks to the AMR safety team, Iām alright. Just a little bit frustrated and very angry. It took me a lot to be contained and just try to calm me down. You know, it was a very unforutnate incident, you know, especially having my teammate beside me. It just feels bad that we are in this situation because at the end of the day, we shouldnāt be racing us like that. We were on the straight, and he moved, and obviously, that makes contact. You know, racing is very close, close margins, and when you make a mistake like that, then it just comes to this.ā
