On-board camera footage from Shane van Gisbergen‘s car showed him urging his crew to reach out to Joey Logano after a small mishap. It also showed him taking a shot at Carson Hocevar for what he seemed to regard as reckless driving.

In the segment in question, van Gisbergen was driving just behind Logano. He was to the inside, while Logano had the outside lane.

Then Carson Hocevar came barrelling through to the inside, shoving van Gisbergen to the middle. At that point, van Gisbergen made contact with Logano, though it wasn’t enough to send either driver spinning.

Moments later, the big one occurred when Chase Briscoe got the inside track on a three-wide stretch. Briscoe bumped into Tyler Reddick in the middle, who crashed into Christopher Bell on the outside. The wreck took out both Reddick and Bell.

Van Gisbergen managed to avoid getting caught up in the chop, safely navigating past Reddick and Bell. Then he clicked onto the radio and urged his crew chief to get in touch with Logano’s team.

“Hey, go apologize to the 22,” van Gisbergen said. “That wanker in the 77 just shoved it three-wide.”

For his part, Briscoe also apologized for the wreck involving Reddick and Bell. He was immediate with his apology in a post-race interview after finishing the day in second place.

“First off just want to apologize to the 45 and the 20,” he said. “That was just a really bone-headed move on my part. Got in there and got loose and ruined their day. That’s 100% on me.”

The situation with van Gisbergen was not the lone incident of the day involving Carson Hocevar, though. The driver of the No. 77 was also involved in a pretty high-profile dust-up with Zane Smith that spilled over into the post-race interviews.

Hocevar wrecked Smith on Lap 230. At the end of the race, he would have an interview interrupted by Smith’s crew chief, Ryan Bergenty. Bergenty broke up the interview and had some choice words for Smith. On the video of the interview, Bergenty can be heard initiating the conversation.

“Hey, when are you going to learn to f****** drive, dude?” Bergenty said, per journalist Stephen Stumpf. “I mean you wiped us the f*** out.”

Stumpf, who was conducting the interview with Carson Hocevar, would add more context, as well. He noted that Bergenty questioned Hocevar’s driving ability.

“Our car is fucking wrecked because you drive like a f****** r****d,” Bergenty said, per Stumpf.
