Shane van Gisbergen wins Chicago pole, full Xfinity Series qualifying results

In a surprise to no one, Shane van Gisbergen is on the pole for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race for the Chicago Street Race. A busy day for SVG with Cup practice and qualifying between now and the Xfinity race.
With Connor Zilisch and others having issues in practice, Shane van Gisbergen had no issue winning the pole at Chicago. He won this race over Kyle Larson a year ago, and he did it with relative ease despite the epic battle the two put on for the fans.
On the pole for today’s race, SVG is the man to beat. There are a few drivers coming from the back of the field in repaired cars and backup cars. Should be enough to keep things exciting today.
First qualifying session of the day is done, mission accomplished. This track means so much to Shane van Gisbergen and his NASCAR career. It is why he is in the car and the position that he is in today.
He has won in the Cup Series at Chicago. The Xfinity Series win last year was amazing to watch. Now, he goes for the sweep again and hopes that he can have a relatively easy job doing it. SVG appeared to be on another level in Mexico City.
A few surprising results. Full qualifying results below with a couple of DNQs.
Jack Perkins is another Supercars driver like Shane van Gisbergen was for so many years. He’s in a Joe Gibbs Racing car. Perhaps he is the dark horse for this year’s race. Will Brown, another Supercars star, is racing in the Cup Series race with Kaulig this weekend.

Shane van Gisbergen leading the field to green
Today, the weather is beautiful in Chicago. It is a hot one, to be honest. But there is no rain in the forecast, and we are thankful for that. It has been a running joke almost that NASCAR has brought so much rain to the Windy City in the last two years.
SVG is running a matching paint scheme with Connor Zilisch. WeatherTech/Red Bull Chevys that are flip-flopped, mirroring each other. However, Zilisch put his car in the tire barriers in practice and did not even make a qualifying lap this afternoon.
This was going to be a Shane van Gisbergen vs. Connor Zilisch battle. Now, it will be a game of whether or not Zilisch can surge through the field to even race with SVG today.
A few issues for drivers in Xfinity Series qualifying. There should be a few issues in the race later today with drivers pushing the limits on each corner.
