Trevon Diggs is not the only injured Dallas Cowboys cornerback. Rookie Shavon Revel Jr. entered training camp still recovering from a torn ACL, an injury he suffered at East Carolina. To this point, Revel has not been fully cleared to participate.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones provided an update on Revel Wednesday, giving a positive report on the cornerback’s status. “The next couple of weeks” is when Jones believes Revel will be back. But from there, some usual rookie growing pains could be on the agenda.

“We just think the world of him,” Jones said. “We really think he’s going to be a hell of a player in this league. But we’re on that same thing (as Trevon Diggs) of when do we think we’ll get him back. I’m 99 percent sure he’ll be back in the next couple of weeks. But then he’s a rookie, so it’s going to take a minute for him to get used to it and what it’s like to be a pro and those types of things.”

Revel was viewed as somebody with first-round potential entering the 2025 NFL Draft. However, the medicals forced him to slide down plenty of draft boards. Eventually, the Cowboys felt as if the value was too good to pass up on. He was taken with the No. 76 overall selection.

From the get-go, the Cowboys have maintained Revel was on the right track. Jones once again gives a positive update on where the cornerback stands. Getting back onto the practice field appears to be the next step, possibly followed by getting some action in preseason games.

Cornerback injuries continuing to be a concern for Dallas Cowboys

The Diggs and Revel injuries were known heading into training camp. From the outside, Dallas was viewed as thin at cornerback until they were able to get back to full health. But further news has only weakened the room

Caelen Carson is now expected to miss four to six weeks after a hyperextended knee. Carson was expected to compete for the job opposite Daron Bland, who almost missed some of training camp due to the birth of a child. Obviously, nothing to be too concerned about there from a player’s health standpoint.

When everyone is available, the Cowboys might feel like they have a deep group available. Until then, question marks are going to continue to pop up on the cornerback room’s status.
