Shedeur Sanders breaks silence amid NFL Draft slide
Shedeur Sanders broke his silence during the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was not selected through 92 total picks.
“Thank you GOD for EVERYTHING,” Sanders wrote on Twitter. The QB posted at 10:45 p.m. ET when he was not selected through 91 picks.
Shedeur also appeared on brother Shilo’s Twitch stream, sharing a message there, too.
While some experts aren’t entirely surprised by Sanders’ slide in the draft, others believe teams are making a serious mistake. ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr., who ranked Sanders as the best quarterback in the draft this year, is particularly appalled.
“The guy that I’m going to be watching all night is obviously Shedeur,” Kiper said ahead of the draft on Friday. “We have had sliding quarterbacks that have done really well and have gone in the second round. Of course, Joe Montana was drafted in the third round back in 1979, when Jack Thompson went before him and Steve Fuller went before him.
“But, I think the second round or the third round. If he gets into the third round — it’s non-sensical right now — that’s ridiculous.”

Media members aren’t the only ones weighing in on Sanders’ unexpected fall in the draft. Ahead of the draft on Friday, President Donald Trump tore into NFL teams for not selecting Shedeur Sanders.
“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart!
“Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”
Wherever Sanders lands, he’ll have plenty of fuel to motivate him. He used outside noise to motivate him to have success at Colorado, where he shattered over 100 school records during his two-year stint with the program.
