With a monster lap, Sheldon Creed earned the pole award at Michigan International Speedway for the Xfinity Series. It is his second pole award of the NASCAR season. Could he be ready for that first career win?

Sheldon Creed is still working hard. He might have suffered heartbreaking finishes this season and in his career as a whole. However, Creed has not lost his spirit.

Joe Gibbs Racing brought a group of insanely fast race cars. Creed was the best among them. Riley Herbst gave him a run for his money, but couldn’t dip below 42 seconds like Creed.

Sheldon Creed won the pole award at Pocono Raceway earlier this season. In the last seven races, Creed has five top-5 finishes. That includes two runner-up finishes. Creed has finished P2 ten times in his Xfinity Series career. He is tied for most runner-up finishes without a win with Dale Jarrett and Daniel Hemric.

The last two races were P4 and P5 finishes for Creed. So, why not go ahead and punch that ticket to Victory Lane already?

Joe Gibbs Racing looks to be really strong. The JR Motorsports cars all had speed. It was surprising, with the superspeedway package, to see Richard Childress Racing struggle as much as they did. Austin Hill and Jesse Love were far off the pace of the leaders.

When it was all said and done, Joe Gibbs Racing made up three of the top five spots in qualifying. Stewart-Haas Racing made up the rest of that group.

Riley Herbst, Taylor Gray, Cole Custer, Chandler Smith, Brandon Jones, Ryan Sieg, Carson Kvapil, Jesse Love, and John Hunter Nemechek make up the rest of the top-10 for the Cabo Wabo 250.

Michigan International Speedway is going to challenge these drivers. The superspeedway package is not what most wanted coming into the race. However, after practice and qualifying it seems that drivers are excited to race these cars tomorrow afternoon.

I was impressed with Lawless Alan, who qualified P15 and was one of the top cars in his practice group. Jeb Burton and Jeffrey Earnhardt both qualified right inside of the top-20. The draft creates chaos and opportunity. Who will take advantage tomorrow?
