Several pieces of injury news are coming tonight out of Cincinnati. An optimistic bit, though, has arrived in an update on DE Shemar Stewart.

Per Jordan Schultz, Stewart, who left today’s win over Jacksonville with a leg injury, is thought “to have avoided anything major”. Nothing official yet on the rookie at defensive end, but Schultz noted that this could end up being a week-to-week designation for him rather than anything more long-term for the Bengals.

“Sources: #Bengals rookie DE Shemar Stewart, who left Sunday’s game with an ankle/knee injury and was seen on crutches, is believed to have avoided anything major,” Schultz posted this evening. “The current expectation is it’s a week-to-week injury and he will be back sooner than later.”

Stewart exited early in the fourth quarter with the ankle/knee injury. Cincy would go on to win without Stewart, though, or QB Joe Burrow either, in a 31-27 victory over the Jaguars, with a go-ahead rushing touchdown with 18 second left by QB Jake Browning to win it this afternoon at Paycor Stadium.

Before leaving the game, Stewart posted a pair of tackles. Those were the first statistics of his professional career after not recording any defensively in their 17-16 divisional win in week one at Cleveland. That’s after Stewart, following a contract dispute on his first deal this offseason, was a first-round pick by the Bengals in the 2025 NFL Draft.

More is to come on Stewart’s status going into week three, when Cincinnati plays on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. But, based on early reporting, the Bengals could have their rookie pass-rusher “back sooner than later”.

Joe Burrow injury update: Bengals QB may miss months, require surgery with Grade 3 turf toe

Bengals QB Joe Burrow could miss a significant amount of time after suffering a toe injury during the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Burrow could miss three months if surgery is needed on his toe. Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported that Burrow suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury, and NFL insider Jordan Schultz said the Bengals will have full details on Monday. Images of Joe Burrow’s left toe injury are being sent to foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, according to Schefter.

Burrow suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Bengals’ 31-27 victory over the Jaguars. It happened after he was sacked by DE Arik Armstead.

Burrow was originally listed as questionable to return to the game after he was sent to the locker room. But the Bengals then ruled him out, and he was seen in a walking boot with crutches when the game ended.
