The Cleveland Browns entered training camp with four quarterbacks. Now, just two of those remain, and they are both rookies. Tuesday brought a trade between Cleveland and Cincinnati, sending Joe Flacco to the Bengals. Dillon Gabriel remains the starter while Shedeur Sanders slides into the backup role.

Shortly after the trade news broke, Sanders provided his reaction to Flacco leaving the Browns. Weirdly enough, the interview took place inside a car dealership. But Sanders spoke highly of the veteran and thanked him for helping him early on.

“He was definitely somebody I leaned on for wisdom,” Sanders said via FOX8 in Cleveland. “He helped me a lot, he helped me a lot with my time being here in Cleveland and his time being here in Cleveland. Now, everybody has their own destinies and have their own plans in life. I’m just happy for him.”

Flacco played in four games this season for Cleveland, winning just one. He threw for 815 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions while completing 58.1% of his throws. Not what the Browns expected after naming him the starter. Going into Week 5, they felt the need to make a switch over to Gabriel.

However, Flacco’s on-field performance does not have much to do with Sanders. The two worked together on a daily basis throughout training camp and when practices began during the regular season. Based on what Sanders said on Tuesday, some valuable lessons were learned.

At the same time, there is a promotion for Sanders. Sunday in London saw him serve as the third-string quarterback. Sanders could now wind up on the field at any moment for his NFL debut.

Deion Sanders provides reaction to Joe Flacco trade

When speaking to the media, Deion Sanders was asked for his own reaction to Flacco getting traded. Turns out, he is not too concerned about what is going on in Cleveland. All his attention is in Boulder, serving as the Colorado Buffaloes‘ head coach.

“I don’t care. I don’t give a darn about the Browns, at all,” Sanders said. “I care about the Colorado Buffaloes. I do love me some Shedeur Sanders, though. Believe that. I care about him,” Sanders said. “The rest of that mess? I don’t, okay. I’m a coach trying to win just like they’re trying to win games. But, I could care less of who they traded.”
