Simone Biles upset by Rebeca Andrade in Olympic floor exercise, takes silver after battling calf injury

Simone Biles battled through a calf injury during Monday’s women’s floor exercise final, but she could only muster a silver medal when it was all said and done, as she was upset by Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade.
The result was a surprising one for Biles, as it’s first time in her career at the Olympics where she wasn’t able to win gold in a floor exercise final. Still, a silver medal is nothing to scoff at. It’s her fourth medal in Paris, the other three being golds.
Meanwhile, her fellow Team USA competitor Jordan Chiles joined her at the podium, as she secured the bronze medal after an inquiry. Her score was updated to a 13.766, which moved her into third place.

All in all, the silver medal is the 11th of Biles’ storied Olympic career. Seven of them are gold. Earlier on Monday, Biles led the Team USA to the gold in the team final, and she also won gold in the all-around and vault finals. However, she finished fifth in the balance beam final.
Regardless, Simone Biles continues to make the United States proud, as she proves she’s one of the elite athletes in not just America, but the world as a whole.
