Social media calls out Peyton, Eli Manning for not asking Disney CEO Bob Iger about YouTube TV, ESPN dispute
Peyton Manning and Eli Manning were called out on social media for not asking Disney CEO Bob Iger about the YouTube TV, ESPN dispute. The Manning brothers had Iger on the ManningCast and did not ask him one question about the carriage dispute.
One of the most notable figures to point out the miss was Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. He first wrote, “Peyton and Eli better ask Iger about YouTube TV.” And when they didn’t, Marchand added, “Tough spot for Mannings: ‘Upstate NY’ for Iger’s college and then no YouTube TV question.”
Several fans shared their thoughts on Peyton Manning and Eli Manning not asking Iger about the dispute. One person said, “ESPN probably warned them if anything was asked about it they’ll shut the ManningCast down.”
Another person asked, “What was the point of having him on and not asking?” It’s possible the Mannings wanted to keep things lighthearted since that’s how the ManningCast normally goes. But with many fans being subscribers to YouTube TV, not having ESPN or anything Disney-related on the streaming service is a huge deal, and it’s not clear when the channels are returning.

Why did Bob Iger appear on the ‘ManningCast’
YouTube TV subscribers have not been able to watch ESPN, ABC local stations, and other Disney networks since Oct. 30, which was when they were removed from the lineup. The big reason for the dispute is price, as Google, which owns YouTube, claimed Disney has demanded a fee increase. Disney said Google has been “refusing to pay fair rates for our channels.”
“We know that subscribers are frustrated with the disruption, and we continue to urge Disney to work with us constructively to reach a fair agreement that restores their networks to YouTube TV as soon as possible,” YouTube said on Saturday, per Variety. Regarding the negotiations, YouTube said, “Instead of negotiating in good faith with us to reach a deal, Disney continues to resort to their playbook.”
Bob Iger is in his second stint as the CEO of Disney. He was originally head of the company from 2005 to 2020 and returned in 2022. He appeared on the ManningCast in Green Bay Packers gear and talked about his love for the team.
