Saturday’s MLB Speedway Classic between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds is in a weather delay. Rain is still moving into the area at Bristol Motor Speedway, and both teams left the field midway through the first inning. The game has officially been postponed to 1 pm ET on Sunday.

Before the game got underway, both teams headed back to their locker rooms before the first pitch, which was scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. A tarp was laid over the field to keep it in good playing condition for when that time comes. More than an hour-and-a-half into the delay at 8:51 p.m. ET, the field crew was seen removing the tarp from the field, indicating that play could start soon.

Ultimately, it was revealed on the FOX broadcast that the game will resume with a 9:40 p.m. ET first pitch now that the weather has cleared out. It will be a late night in Tennessee, but the historic matchup was set continue nonetheless.

Unfortunately, the teams could not even get through the first inning before heavy rain started to fall again. Crews were seen pouring more dirt in the infield as puddles began to form, and the game was delayed again just after 10 p.m. ET.

The contest between the Braves and Reds is set to make history as the first MLB game ever played at Bristol Motor Speedway. It is one of the most iconic venues in racing and home to two annual NASCAR weekends, the Food City 500 and Bass Pro Shops Night Race.

Bristol Motor Speedway has also hosted Tennessee and Virginia Tech for a college football game in 2016. That game saw nearly 157,000 people in attendance. The current MLB attendance record is 115,300 people from a 2008 game between the Dodgers and Red Sox at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. That in mind, there’s a shot it’s broken Saturday evening.

Additionally, the Speedway Classic will mark the first MLB game played in the state of Tennessee. Two Tennesseeans are expected to be the starting pitchers. The Reds plan to start former Tennessee Vol Chase Burns from outside of Nashville, while the Braves plan to start Spencer Strider, who grew up in Knoxville.

That’s not all, as two Hall of Famers from each team will work together for the ceremonial first pitch. Hall of Fame Brave Chipper Jones will pitch to Hall of Fame Red Johnny Bench behind the plate.

Both teams will wear special racing-inspired uniforms for the game. The Braves caps feature flames on them, while the Reds cap has checkered flags across the visor. That’s not all, though, as it was revealed that Braves catcher Tyler Stephenson plans to dress up as Ricky Bobby, the character portrayed by Will Ferrell in the movie “Talladega Nights.”
