More harsh messages have been revealed thanks to the NASCAR lawsuit. Once again, Richard Childress is the topic. Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson is the one who came for Childress this time in text messages from 2024.

During the 2024 Coca-Cola 600, Richard Childress had Donald Trump, then a candidate, at the race as a guest. Trump sat on the pit box of the No. 3 team before the event was rained out.

At the same time, negotiations were ongoing regarding the 2025 Charter Agreement. There was also a Team Owner Agreement document floating around at the time. It is unclear what document Dickerson was referring to in his messages, but it could be either of those two.

“I hope RC [Richard Childress] says a word about this document so I can tell him what a cuck he looked like with trump [sic],” Dickerson wrote to a redacted person in 2024. Another instance of Childress catching heat in this lawsuit that he’s not even a party to.

Whoever Dickerson was texting about Richard Childress did not join in on the attack. Instead, the redacted person kept the conversation on the topic at hand, which was team negotiations.

What is the deal with NASCAR folks not liking Childress? He was also called out by Steve Phelps, Commissioner of NASCAR, in messages from 2023.

Richard Childress catches strays in NASCAR lawsuit

Since the lawsuit started, Richard Childress has chimed in a couple of times. He has largely been supportive of what 23XI and Front Row are doing, but there is concern that is will effect his business, of course.

Steve Phelps, in released messages from 2023, called Childress out. He went as far as saying that Childress needed to be “taken out back and flogged.”

“I agree with you,” Phelps messaged to Herbst in August of 2023. “Did you give them some sense of how bad things are out there? Childress needs to be taken out back and flogged. He’s a stupid redneck who owes his entire fortune to nascar [sic].”

In a later message, Phelps continued his crusade against Richard Childress. It wasn’t just one message, it was multiple.

“These guys are short sighted and self serving. Childress is an idiot,” Phelps wrote. “If they don’t like the state of the sport, sell you [sic] charter and get out.”

Wishing away one of your most iconic teams is a strange choice. The hits against Richard Childress did not stop there, either.
