This is a big offseason for Spire Motorsports. They’re capping it off by hiring Doug Duchardt as the next team president. Douchardt has made stops at Hendrick Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing along the way and should be a big addition to the NASCAR team.

Expansion is what’s on everyone’s minds at Spire Motorsports, and for good reason. The team purchased the Live Fast Motorsports charter, bought Kyle Busch Motorsports and the entire building and fabricating aspect of the organization, and now has a new president.

Doug Douchardt is going to be seen as a very good hire by Spire. They continue to make great moves after taking on a lot of investment from Group 1001 and Gainbridge.

“As Spire Motorsports continues to grow, it’s important to add impactful personnel at every level,” said team co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “I’ve known and had a close personal relationship with Doug Duchardt for nearly 20 years. Doug’s resume and body of work speaks for itself. Having him on staff raises our competitive bad immediately. He brings a results-based work ethic to our team that will pay immediate dividends. Our expectations for the impact his presence will make across our entire organization cannot be overstated.

“He has a rich history with General Motors which has resulted in close and deep personal relationships at the manufacturer level and positions him firmly at the intersection of our crucial relationships with both Hendrick Motorsports and Trackhouse Racing [formerly Chip Ganassi Racing].”

Duchardt is ready to join Spire as well.

Doug Duchardt ‘impressed’ by Spire Motorsports

Make no mistake about it, Doug Duchardt is coming to Spire Motorsports because of the changes they have made recently. Duchardt has experience in IndyCar as well as sportscars. Coming to Spire, he’s going to bring a lot of varied experience with him and a ton of respect from within the industry.

When Duchardt was at Hendrick, he was VP of Development and, later on, Executive Vice President and General Manager. He was part of the golden years at Hendrick with Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Dale Jr., and others.

Spire has impressed him.

“I have been impressed with Spire Motorsports’ incremental growth since its inception,” Duchardt said. “It’s an exciting opportunity to join the team as we work toward increased competitiveness in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Walking into the facility you can feel the enthusiasm and energy. I am also looking forward to working with my previous teammates at Chevrolet, Trackhouse Racing and Hendrick Motorsports as Spire prepares for the 2024 season.”

Duchardt will take over the day-to-day direction of Spire Motorsports from competition to personnel and business operations
