The Pittsburgh Steelers took the opportunity to troll the New York Jets after a Week 1 win on Sunday in the debut of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers snuck by with a 34-32 victory as Rodgers tossed for four touchdowns against his former team.

Pittsburgh wasted no time getting its shot in on social media after the game. The official team account posted a meme on X referencing a famous scene from the movie “Airplane.” You can check it out below.

Rodgers signed with the Steelers this offseason after spending the past two seasons with the Jets. New York also had former Pittsburgh quarterback Justin Fields on the other side.

The Steelers trailed 26-17 entering the fourth quarter but scored a touchdown on the first play when Rodgers found running back Jaylen Warren for a five-yard score. After Pittsburgh forced a fumble on the ensuing drive, Rodgers took over and two plays later connected with Calvin Austin for an 18-yard touchdown to put his team back on top.

The Jets answered back with a touchdown of their own on the next drive to retake the lead, 32-31. But Pittsburgh was not to be denied, and kicker Chris Boswell ended up the hero of the game after making a 60-yard go-ahead field goal with two minutes to go.

Now Pittsburgh has every reason to celebrate after starting the season 1-0. And they also wanted to rub it in the face of Jets fans on their way out of MetLife Stadium.

Steelers’ Mike Tomlin reacts to Chris Boswell game-winning field goal vs. Jets: ‘Our kicker is a serial killer’

Chris Boswell was arguably the offensive MVP for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024. One game into the 2025 season and there’s no debate — Boswell IS the Steelers’ offensive MVP.

Pittsburgh is 1-0 after defeating the New York Jets, 34-32, in Sunday’s regular season opener at MetLife Stadium. There were big performances elsewhere, yes, but none bigger than Boswell, who split the uprights from 60 yards out with 1:03 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Steelers the victory.

Head coach Mike Tomlin kept it short and sweet when discussing Boswell after the game. “I can’t say enough about Boz. Our kicker is a serial killer. He’s got a low post rate. He can’t wait to deliver.”
