Stewart Friesen gets improbable win at Michigan as Truck Series race devolves into chaos

What a win! Who saw this coming today when the green flag dropped?! 72 race winless streak OVER for Stewart Friesen! After everything that has gone wrong this season for the No. 52 team, they were finally given a break from the racing gods and are winners in the NASCAR Truck Series race at Michigan.
Have a damn day, Stewart Friesen. He wasn’t dominant, but he was there when he needed to be. First win since Texas in 2022. The Halmar-Friesen team has had to put up with a lot. Stewart wasn’t sure if he had a future in the sport anymore after so many mishaps and problems. Today makes it all worth it.
Locked into the playoffs, Friesen gets a big win. Canada, rejoice! In front of a huge Truck Series crowd, Friesen gets the job done after multiple overtimes. He led two laps all race, the final two.
This race was only supposed to be 125 laps. Multiple overtime finishes made it a 139-lap race. Drivers were running out of fuel, blowing tires, and finding it hard to keep themselves from wrecking late in this one.
The first two stages went by without incident. It took 72 laps to get our first caution for cause. From there, we had seven cautions to close out the last 67 laps. The restart pileup on Lap 122 opened the door for a number of drivers as the leaders, Ross Chastain and Gio Ruggiero, were wrecked in a pileup.

Stewart Friesen outduels Enfinger, LaJoie for the win
Corey LaJoie, in his first Truck Series start of the season, finishes P5. He had the lead, and if this race hadn’t gone to multiple overtimes, he may have been able to win it. However, Grant Enfinger and Stewart Friesen had other ideas in the overtime finish. LaJoie should be happy with this result, he’s only the third driver in 2025 to get this No. 07 truck a top-five finish. Kyle Larson and William Byron are the other two.
All race long we were talking about Carson Hocevar and Ross Chastain and Corey Heim. The usual suspects were in the mix. That is, until the late pile-up. Once this race started to pick up cautions, it was like a broken faucet, no way to stop the deluge.
This win is massive for Stewart Friesen and his team. They have been dying for a win. Kyle Busch took one from them earlier this season, and since then, it has been nothing but bad luck. They cashed in on that bad luck today and were rewarded with a win.
A wild and wacky race. Not a bad race by any means. It would have been nice to see Chastain, Heim, and Hocevar continue to throw haymaker passes at each other like they were before all of the caution flags. Just wasn’t meant to be for those drivers. Friesen picked up the pieces and found a checkered flag.
