Stewart Friesen is back in the United States after his horrifying wreck in Quebec, Canada on Monday. His wife, Jessica Friesen, posted another status update on Thursday morning.

The update included many thanks for the various teams of doctors that have already worked to stabilize Friesen following his scary wreck. Friesen suffered a broken pelvis and a fractured right leg.

“Stewart has successfully made it back to the United States and has been admitted to a Level One trauma center in New York,” Jessica wrote. “Stewart’s injuries are extensive, and we are thankful that we have been able to get him to a place that has the experience necessary to complete all of the surgeries that he needs.”

Stewart Friesen is in serious but stable condition following his wreck during Monday’s Super DIRTcar Series race at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec. He suffered a broken pelvis and a fractured right leg, with both injuries requiring surgery.

Those surgeries are likely to begin shortly, with a long road to recovery ahead. Jessica Friesen thanked the doctors who have already cared for her husband.

“We are beyond grateful for Dr. Maresca and the staff at Canton-Postdam Hospital for helping us initiate the trauma transfer back to the United States, along with the amazing crew at Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance who did an incredible job keeping Stewart stable and comfortable during his transfer,” Jessica wrote. “As things progress, I will do my best to continue to keep you updated. Our family continues to be overwhelmed by all of the amazing support we have received.”

The accident occurred during the dirt modified feature event at Autodrome as Stewart Friesen was in a three-wide battle for position. Friesen went high up on the straightaway entering Turn 3, and his car flew off the main track surface and into the ARMCO barrier. His car burst into flames before coming back onto the racetrack, where another driver slammed into him.

Needless to say, it was quite the scary incident. That Stewart Friesen is now getting the care he needs is a relief to all.

“Your prayers and well wishes have encouraged us as we work through Stewart’s road to recovery,” Jessica wrote. “This will likely not be a quick journey, but we continue to work to get Stewart back at the top of his game, on track, where he belongs.”
