How about Taylor Gray! He wins the pole award for tonight’s 300-mile race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He has won his second pole award of his career, his first was back at Homestead earlier this season.

Taylor Gray was able to just get the pole over Connor Zilisch. This is going to be a big race for Zilisch as he returns from his back injury at Talladega. A lot of young talent in this race, and that talent will be up front when the green flag drops.

300 miles at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The last time Gray won a pole award, he finished P23 on the day. He is hoping that he will finish the race where he starts it today.

This race is going to be tough for the full-time Xfinity Series drivers. Charlotte is tough already, but there is serious Cup Series talent in the field looking to take a win away.

William Byron is set to start P4 with Chase Briscoe P9. Briscoe hasn’t made an Xfinity start since 2022 with SS-Green Light. His last time at Charlotte in the Xfinity car was in 2021 when he finished P6 for B.J. McLeod Motorsports. Austin Dillon is also racing for RCR in this race.

Carson Ware and Dawson Cram were the two drivers who did not qualify for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race. Katherine Legge made it in relatively easily as she qualified as the 32nd car of 38.

Will Taylor Gray and Connor Zilisch stand tall against the Cup Series talent? Could we even see a surprise winner at Charlotte?

Taylor Gray coming off strong finish at Texas

When Kyle Larson won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas before the two week break, Taylor Gray was P2. Gray has had two top-five finishes in the last three races, going back to his P5 at Rockingham. There was a tough stretch of five races for Gray between Las Vegas and Bristol.

Gray, racing in the No. 54 car, is actually racing for team owner Ty Gibbs. The Cup Series driver was put on the owner’s list for this Joe Gibbs Racing entry this season, and so far, it has gone well. I will admit that I was a big skeptic of Gray moving up to Xfinity based on his Truck Series results. But it is working right now.

At 14th in points, there have been moments where Gray and the 54 team have left points on the board. They are just ahead of fellow rookie Nick Sanchez and behind rookie Daniel Dye. As it stands right now, Gray is not in the playoff picture, but right there on the bubble.

There is a lot going on this weekend in racing. NASCAR, IndyCar, F1, and MotoGP all have massive races scheduled. Here in America, the focus is on Indianapolis and Charlotte. Taylor Gray is hoping to be one of the winners this weekend as he starts on the pole in the Xfinity Series later tonight.
