Tedy Bruschi: Bill Belichick should call Bill Parcells before discussing Dallas Cowboys job

The Dallas Cowboys could be looking for a new head coach soon and there is plenty of speculation that former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick could be a good fit.
ESPN analyst and former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi, who played for Bill Belichick, was asked for his thoughts on Belichick potentially coaching the Cowboys Monday morning on ESPN First Take.
According to Bruschi, the fit could work, but Belichick should talk with his close friend Bill Parcells first.
“I can just imagine Bill saying to himself, ‘I’m 72 years old. I’m too old for this you know what.’ Because him going in there and having to deal with Jerry Jones,” Tedy Bruschi said. “But there’s one call that Bill would make, and that would be to Bill Parcells, who worked for Jerry Jones before, and that either endorsement or non-endorsement would mean the world to Belichick, in terms of what Parcells thought of that experience, what he really thought of that experience, when he coached under Jerry Jones.”
Bill Parcells coached the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-2006. He finished with a winning record in three of his four seasons, but the Cowboys did not win a playoff game under Parcells. Parcells and Jones did not always see eye to eye, and Bruschi believes Bill Belichick and Jones could have some similar differences.

“I don’t know how that would work, truthfully, with Bill and Jerry,” Bruschi said. “I think there’s a lot of discussions that would have to go on between ‘This is my realm, this is your realm.’ Because what Bill preaches in the locker room in terms of distractions and how things should be done, if it’s contradicted, it would drive him crazy.
“If you’re telling me, coach, as a player, that I’m supposed to be this way, but I’m not getting that example from the general manager and the owner… I think it would be hard.”
It will be interesting to see if Jerry Jones does indeed try to hire Bill Belichick and if Belichick is willing to listen to the Cowboys owner.
