Tennessee at Mississippi State odds: Early point spread updated, How to Watch

For just the fourth time since 2012, Mississippi State and Tennessee face off against one another. Not a usual matchup due to SEC divisions, Josh Heupel and Jeff Lebby stand across from each other.
With game day approaching, the early odds and point spread have been revealed. The Volunteers have opened as 8.5-point favorites over the Bulldogs. The over/under is set at 62.5 total points. All odds are courtesy of BetMGM.
How to watch Tennessee at Mississippi State
Time: 4:15 p.m. ET
Channel: SEC Network/Fubo TV (Streaming)
Location: Starkville, MS
Both teams were in action on Saturday, playing another nonconference game. Of the two, Tennessee put together a more comfortable performance, taking down UAB 56-24. Joey Aguilar put together an effective day, throwing for 218 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception on 15 of 22 passing. As usual, the Vols put up nice numbers on the ground, going for 235 yards.
Mississippi State went into the halftime locker room up just four points vs. Northern Illinois. A big second half made sure the result got put away, though. If Heupel walked away impressed with his team’s run game, Lebby certainly can one-up him. The Bulldogs rushed for 292 yards on 49 attempts, only letting Blake Shapen throw 20 times. Fluff Bothwell finished as the team’s leader, passing the century mark by one yard.
MSU wants a long drought to come to an end in Week 5. Lebby’s team went 0-8 in SEC play a year ago, meaning the school’s last conference win came on Oct. 21, 2023, against Arkansas. Just over 23 months have passed.
As for Tennessee, an early loss to Georgia put them behind the ball. Getting back to .500 with a win helps Heupel propel his team forward. Many SEC teams face a difficult schedule moving forward and the Vols are no different. Winning on the road is tough but Tennessee might feel like it’s one they need.

You know Starkville will be alive for this one. Mississippi State fans impressed during the Arizona State win, helping inject some life back into the program. Getting a ranked SEC opponent in town only helps the cause.
An afternoon kickoff brings a little more juice as well. SEC Network gets the broadcast but no official announcers have been assigned to the game. Hopefully, we are treated to a great game in what is a loaded slate across college football.
