Tiger Woods' TGL Golf League to air exclusively on ESPN

Golf is always looking to find new ways to grow their brand and fanbase in the public space. Now, with the latest update on Tigers Woods’ new TGL league, the sport is about to take a big stage.
In a release from TGL today, ESPN and ESPN+ will air matches at the start of next year. The first will air on January 9th, the night after the national championship in the College Football Playoff, while the second will air on January 16th, the night after an NFL Wild Card Game on Monday Night Football.
“TGL presented by SoFi will feature six teams of top PGA TOUR players in 3 vs. 3 team match play, with all players mic’d up for an added layer of insight and excitement,” the release wrote. “The inaugural season will include 15 regular season matches, followed by semifinals and finals matches, to be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN+ in the U.S.”
“ESPN and TGL are also planning a preview show, set to air on ABC on Saturday, December 30th,” it continued. “The preview show will delve into the debut of TGL presented by SoFi and introduce the six teams of players, some of whom will demonstrate the advanced tech behind TGL through playing in SoFi Center, the custom-built TGL arena on the campus of Palm Beach State College.”
Much of the specifics of the TGL are still unknown at this point. Names, branding, scheduling, and participating players are all set to be announced sometime in the near future.
To this point, we know four cities that will feature teams with TGL Atlanta, TGL Boston, TGL New York, and the Los Angeles Golf Club.
We’re 96 days away from this getting teed off for the first time. At that point, 18 players will begin to compete for an all-new golf title within Woods’ new league.

Over the weekend, Charlie sunk the eight-foot putt to win the boys 14-15 age division of the tournament. It had to be a special moment for the family, especially with Tiger caddying for his son. Below is the clip of the winning putt:
Charlie carded a 71 in the first round of the tournament but caught fire in the second round. He recorded nine birdies, shooting a 6-under-par 66 for the day. That was enough to capture the win at Mission Inn in Orlando.
After winning the tournament, Charlie said it’s pretty helpful to have his dad on the bag during these events.
“We just stay in our own little world,” Charlie said, via USA TODAY. “We take it one shot at a time. He puts me in my place.”
It also has to be a really cool experience on the course for both Tiger and Charlie. It’s an awesome way for the father and son to get in some quality time together — while still dominating golf tournaments.
