Report: Chicago White Sox to promote Tim Elko from Triple-A

The Chicago White Sox are expected to promote Tim Elko from Triple-A, according to the Chicago Sun-Times’ Vinnie Duber. He put together an impressive stretch to start the 2025 season with the Charlotte Knights.
Elko has been red-hot through 31 games with Charlotte this year. He has a .348 batting average along with 10 home runs and 23 RBI as he continued to make a case for a call-up.
The White Sox selected Elko in the 10th round of the 2022 MLB Draft after an impressive career at Ole Miss. He was part of the Rebels’ national championship team and set new career-highs with 24 home runs and 74 RBI in 2022 while hitting .300.
For his efforts to start the 2025 season, Elko earned the White Sox’ Minor League Player of the Month award in April. Now, he’s getting his shot in the majors – and Knights manager Sergio Santos told MLB.com’s Scott Merkin the former Ole Miss star is ready for The Show.
“If he got called up to the big leagues, he’s a guy I wouldn’t worry about,” Santos said. “He’s a very good defender at first base. He can hit.
“He’s cleaned up some of the stuff that he needed to work on last year. He’s more of a complete hitter now and he’s an amazing clubhouse guy. I have no control over the when but if they do ask me, I think he’s ready.”

Andrew Vaughn currently holds down first base for the White Sox, but has struggled to start the year. He entered Friday’s game against the Miami Marlins with a .186 average and three home runs to his name. However, he recently reached base in 13 straight games.
While speaking with Merkin, Elko made it clear he wasn’t cheering for Vaughn to struggle. His focus was on his game – and, of course, getting to the big leagues whenever the call came.
“Obviously, I would never wish any ill on him or anything,” Tim Elko said. “I hope that he continues to get better and do his thing. I know he will. He’s a great player. He’s a great guy. Super nice, down to earth. So just excited for him and hoping that he gets back to himself.
“[Individual] attention is kind of whatever. I try not to focus on that. I try to focus on playing with my teammates and enjoying each day. Trying to do the best I can to help us win. The attention stuff, the outside noise, really doesn’t matter. Just going out and playing every day and trying to do the best I can.”
