Tom Brady, Jimmie Johnson teaming up for 'Fastest Seat in Sports' ahead of Indy 500

A pair of seven-time champions in their respective sports will team up for the “Fastest Seat in Sports” prior to the start of the 2025 Indy 500 on Sunday, May 25. NFL legend Tom Brady and NASCAR Hall of Famer Jimmie Johnson will jump inside the custom two-seat Indy car and make ceremonial laps before the race, Jenna Fryer of The Associated Press reported Wednesday.
To be clear, Johnson will be Brady’s chauffeur. Yes, that’s a combined 14 titles in one car. Talk about an epic start to the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” FOX Sports MLB analyst Alex Rodriguez kicked off the IndyCar season in the Fastest Seat in Sports ahead of the opener in St. Petersburg, Fla. Other celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Diplo, Jon Bon Jovi, Mark Wahlberg and Simu Liu have taken the ride.
FOX Sports is going all out for its inaugural broadcast of the Indy 500. Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, is the network’s lead NFL color commentator. Having him and Johnson involved in the pre-race festivities is a big win.

“I love the Indy 500. There is an energy and excitement around the 500 that is unlike anything I have experienced before,” Johnson said. “Certainly, pre-race ceremonies are the ultimate racing experience that I’ve had outside of the car. I’m thrilled to be a part of the program and to see the stands full one more time.

“I’m extremely honored to come back and do it and to be able to also share this experience with another seven-time champion.”
Johnson, the seven-time Cup Series champion, had a two-year stint in the IndyCar Series in 2021-22. The 49-year-old started 12th in the 2022 Indy 500 and finished 28th. After taking Brady around Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Johnson will fly to North Carolina to take part in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It will be Johnson’s 700th career start in the Cup competition.
Johnson, the Legacy Motor Club co-owner, will be making his 14th start for his race team. He finished third in this year’s Daytona 500 back in February. His P3 finish at Daytona is his only top-25 finish in a Legacy car. In 2024, Johnson had an average finish of 30.55 in his nine starts.
