On Friday, the New England Patriots unveiled the statue of former quarterback Tom Brady outside Gillette Stadium. Brady played for the Patriots from 2000-19 and won six Super Bowls with the organization.

Brady’s statue is 12 feet tall and made of bronze. He is the first player in Patriots history to be immortalized with a statue. After the unveiling of the statue, Brady reflected on his time with the Patriots while also taking a shot an opposing NFL fanbase.

“In the end, this statue isn’t just for Pats fans,” Brady said. “It’ll also give all the Jets fans something to throw their beers at as they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the second quarter.”

Brady has plenty of room to talk trash to the Jets. He boasts a 31-8 all-time record against the AFC East rival. Now, Jets fans will have to be reminded of Brady’s dominance over their team even when he’s not at Gillette Stadium in person.

There is no player more deserving of a statue than Tom Brady. In 23 NFL seasons, 89,214 passing yards, 649 touchdowns and 333 starts. He spent his final three seasons in the league with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who he led to a Super Bowl in 2020.

He boasts the most career passing yards, completions, touchdown passes, and games started in NFL history. Additionally, he is the league’s winningest QB ever. Simply put, Brady is considered by most fans to be the greatest football player of all time.

“If you spend time in this organization, you are blessed,” Brady said last June at his Patriots Hall of Fame ceremony. “We’re blessed because we learn so many things that most people never have the opportunity to learn, that nothing of significance in life is accomplished as an individual. Nobody individually hangs those six banners up there. The team does. Here in New England, it’s always about we, and us, not me or mine.

“How do I sum up two decades in New England in one short speech? The answer is simple. You can’t. It’s hard for me to properly express my gratitude and my appreciation for how my time here has added to my life. There are too many lessons learned, too many stories to be told, too many incredible moments and achievements we all experienced together.”

On Friday, the Patriots will square off against the Washington Commanders in their NFL preseason opener at 7:30 p.m. ET. Brady’s statue will watch over the thousands of dedicated Patriots fan who enter the stadium to cheer on their beloved team.
