Tom Cruise is one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood. He’s also one of the most in-demand.

So naturally, when it comes to films he might be interested in making, everyone takes notice. And the superstar A-list actor appeared to throw a potential movie sequel on the table recently: Days of Thunder.

The 1990 film starred Tom Cruise opposite Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman. It was a hit, perhaps one of the best depictions of NASCAR in the film industry.

According to a report from the Sports Business Journal, Cruise recently made comments indicating a sequel to the 1990 classic could be in the works. He made the comments on the Today show in Australia when asked about whether he was working on another Top Gun film.

“All of these things we’re working on. We’re discussing ‘Days of Thunder’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ There are numerous other films that we’re actively working on right now.”

For Tom Cruise to put that out there on his own says a lot. For years, NASCAR has maintained that its open to another such film. There have been various reports about Cruise considering it, too.

But to have it in active discussion? Well, that’s news worth talking about. There would likely be a number of NASCAR drives interested in seeing the Tom Cruise sequel, hoping the sport could be portrayed in a better light.

Bubba Wallace not a fan of Talladega Nights

On an episode of the Rubbin’ Is Racing podcast last year, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace was asked his thoughts on the famous Will Ferrell movie Talladega Nights. He obliged.

“Bad. It’s not like a good racing movie,” Wallace said. “It’s just a comedy. I remember watching it, I think I was high school, maybe like a freshman or something, and I seen that come out and I was like, ‘They’re making fun of our sport.’ And I was like, ‘That’s not right.’ But then I’ve watched it multiple times now and I’m like, ‘Ah, OK, some scenes are funny’ … but it’s Will Ferrell. Love him as an actor for sure.

“But people that say that’s their best racing movie, it’s like you guys are missing the boat. For sure.”

Days of Thunder? With Tom Cruise? Now that’s a movie many drivers consider top notch. A sequel potentially on the way? Yes, please.
