Trackhouse owner Justin Marks makes first public comments on Daniel Suárez departure

Daniel Suárez and Trackhouse Racing announced they would part ways following the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, leaving the driver looking for his next move. It’s unclear for now where that will be.
In the meantime, both Suárez and Trackhouse have made it clear they appreciated the partnership while it lasted. Trackhouse owner Justin Marks publicly commented on the split for the first time on Sunday.
“Look, Daniel’s been a huge part of this company for four and a half years now,” Marks said, in a video shared by Steven Taranto of CBS Sports. “And when we sat down and looked at our, kind of mapped out our three-year and our five-year plan and sort of the sponsorships and kind of like everything that we’re trying to accomplish over the next really five years of the company, we just got to a point where we felt like that relationship had beared a lot of fruit for us but it just was time to move on.”
According to Jeff Gluck of The Athletic, Daniel Suárez said he doesn’t know exactly what’s next for him, but he’s approaching it with a smile on his face. He doesn’t want people to feel bad for him.
His time at Trackhouse was productive, though Suárez never quite found the consistency he was looking for. Still, there were some excellent highlights, including a win at the 2024 Ambetter Health 400 in Atlanta, an absolute masterclass of a race.
It was just time for a change of scenery for both parties, Marks explained. He expanded.
“As we grow and as the team grows, obviously we have to identify different opportunities,” Marks said. “Look, Daniel has been a huge part of this company and a great friend of mine. We met last night, me and him in the hotel for an hour down in the lobby and we just talked about our time together, everything that we’ve accomplished together, and him and I are in a really good place.

“It’s just this isn’t a sport where you do the same thing forever. And as we grow, we just felt like it was time to wrap up that relationship and work to try to help him to find the next opportunity. But continue to grow as a company, what we’re trying to accomplish.”
It’ll be interesting to see where Daniel Suárez lands come 2026. He’s a talented driver, and it wouldn’t be terribly surprising to see him earn a Cup seat with another team.
In any case, he’s approaching it with a positive attitude. And he’s hoping he can sneak another win in sometime soon.
“This is not something new for me,” Daniel Suárez said. “I have known about this for awhile. It just happens to be official today. I’m actually a little bit relieved it’s already out and people know about it and we can talk about it and we can move forward with future plans.”
