WATCH: Travon Walker continues impressive NFL debut with first career interception
Travon Walker is living up to his billing as the first overall pick from the 2022 NFL Draft.
Many questioned the Jaguars betting on the potential of the former Georgia star, but Walker is making Jacksonville look savvy for their selection in his first NFL game. Along with his first sack, the defensive end just grabbed his first interception of his career, as well.
Check out the video below, as Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz never expected Walker to show off his impressive hands.
As you can see, Walker recognizes the screen that was called, fell back and was able to intercept Wentz. Utilizing his awareness and his play-making ability, Walker is adding his highlight reel during his debut.
The Jaguars were sizable underdogs entering their season-opening showdown with Washington, but plays like the one Walker just made have given them a lead at the moment. As Doug Pederson hopes to instill a new culture with Jacksonville, a win would go a long way to open up his coaching tenure.
If Travon Walker’s first game is any indication, his career in Jacksonville is going to be a fun one to keep an eye on. There are plenty more highlight plays to be made over the rest of the season.

Last season, Walker broke out in a big way for the Bulldogs. The star pass rusher accumulated 37 total tackles and 6.0 sacks in a talented defense, helping lead Georgia to their first national championship in over 40 years.
Most importantly to the Jags, Walker has the potential to become one of the top defensive ends in the entire NFL. He showed flashes of dominance at Georgia, playing all over the defense in helping the Bulldogs accomplish their ultimate goal.
While the 6-foot-5 defensive end didn’t have the statistics other pass rushers amassed, his untapped athletic potential had franchises salivating.
