Travon Walker injury update: Report reveals Jaguars DE's status for Monday Night Football vs. Chiefs

According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Travon Walker will not play on Monday Night Football. Jacksonville was hoping to get him back before facing Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Walker is not too far removed from wrist surgery and is still recovering.

“Jaguars EDGE Travon Walker is out tonight, per source,” Wolfe said via X. “Incredibly tough player to try to come back in 1 week from wrist surgery but needs more time.”

Shortly after the report from Wolfe came out, the Jaguars released their group of inactives. Walker was including four other players. A total of three come on the defensive line, meaning somebody will need to step up in order to get pressure on Mahomes.

Right after the surgery, Jaguars head coach Liam Coen announced Walker would be listed as day-to-day. He left the door open to play in this game, not officially ruling anything out. Not what you expect to hear after someone undergoes surgery.

Walker suffered the injury last Sunday during the second quarter against the San Francisco 49ers. His numbers to that point were pretty solid, recording two sacks and 12 total tackles, five of which were assists. Before the injury, availability was one of Walker’s top traits in the early stages of his career.

“Yeah, he’s got that kind of mindset and mentality, you know, he does,” Coen said. “So he’s a great, great dude. He’s gonna try to do everything in his power, you know, he just cares so much,” Coen said. “He was one of the first guys I saw in the locker room, you know, before I got out of the locker room on Sunday, just congratulating the team and us. So it was pretty cool.”

Jacksonville Jaguars to face Kansas City Chiefs without Walker

Jacksonville is off to a great start in Coen’s first year, winning three of four. Getting to 4-1 would match the win total for a year ago, already proving what kind of turnaround is taking place. Keeping pace with the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South is important as well.

Kansas City needs a win of its own, wanting to keep momentum rolling after a 1-2 start. Three wins in a row before another challenging portion of the schedule is exactly what the doctor ordered. And with Walker now out, it’s a big night for the offensive line.
