WATCH: Travon Walker picks up first NFL sack in preseason debut
Former Georgia Bulldog star Travon Walker blew away scouts and NFL decision makers at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine when he clocked in with a blistering 4.51 40-yard dash time. His dominant performance helped propel him to being the No.1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tonight, in preseason action during the Hall-of-Fame game, the former Georgia star racked up his first sack for the Jaguars against the Las Vegas Raiders in Canton, Ohio.
Recently, Walkerās old teammate, Stetson Bennett IVĀ shared a funny storyĀ about how he was blown away by his speed when they decided to race in practice last year.
āI can beat a lot of dudes [laughs].Ā Laddās [McConkey]Ā got me. Laddās got me. I might haveĀ Dan [Jackson]Ā though. I donāt know. We havenāt really raced. I donāt know itās just usually fun and games. You know racing. God, I remember running againstĀ Travon [Walker]Ā last year though,ā the Georgia quarterbackĀ said.

āThat was embarrassing. To be my size and I think Iām pretty quick and running and looking to my right and I see 6ā6, 270 [pounds] keeping up with me. And Iām like good lord, man. Who are you? Thereās guys like that on the team, too. The sprints, to make conditioning a little bit easier, weāll point and be like, āI got you right here. Weāll race. Letās race.ā Just to make it more competitive and fun,ā BennettĀ said.

Travon Walker enjoyed a breakout season last year
Last season, Walker broke out in a big way for the Bulldogs. The star pass rusher accumulated 37 total tackles and 6.0 sacks in a talented defense, helping lead Georgia to their first national championship in over 40 years.
Most importantly to the Jags,Ā Walker has the potential to become one of the top defensive ends in the entire NFL. He showed flashes of dominance at Georgia, playing all over the defense in helping the Bulldogs accomplish their ultimate goal.
While the 6-foot-5 defensive end didnāt have the statistics other pass rushers amassed, his untapped athletic potential had franchises salivating.
