Trevon Diggs injury update: Brian Schottenheimer reveals latest on Cowboys CB's possible return

Dallas Cowboys (3-3-1) cornerback Trevon Diggs (concussion) did not play in his team’s 44-22 Week 7 home win over the Washington Commanders (3-4) on Sunday. Diggs returned to the facility Monday but remains in concussion protocol, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said.
Diggs, 27, had an accident in his home last Thursday night which resulted in him suffering a concussion. While he missed the game against the Commanders, Schottenheimer initially said he expected Diggs to be OK.
“This is the NFL, and if you’re unsure what’s going to happen, just wait because something is going to happen,” Schottenheimer said Friday. “And you deal with it, and you don’t lose sleep over it. The biggest thing is just the concern for Trevon that he’s OK. But seems like he is.”
Team owner/general manager Jerry Jones addressed Diggs’ injury following the win on Sunday. Jones said he spoke with Diggs directly, though he declined to divulge specifics of how the concussion happened.

Jerry Jones speaks out about Trevon Diggs concussion
“I don’t know the combination of the injury and how it impacted, regarding concussion issue, I’m not sure that I know the detail of how that happened,” Jones said, via Jeff Kolb of FOX 4 News. “He said what happened, and I’m not saying that didn’t happen. But a lot of times, you’re not the best viewer of what happened to you. … Yeah, no, I won’t get into that, but the bottom line is that I do expect him back.”
Before Sunday, Diggs had played in every game after spending training camp on the physically unable to perform list following surgery he had on his left knee in January. The former Alabama standout has tallied 20 tackles, one tackle for loss and two PBUs this season.
Jones is not expecting Diggs to be out much longer. To play, he must first clear the league’s concussion protocol. The Cowboys go on the road in Week 8 this Sunday, facing off against the Denver Broncos (5-2).
