The hits keep coming for Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs. After he was slated to miss this weekend’s clash against the Denver Broncos, Dallas has placed him on injured reserve, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

The news comes after Diggs did not play in the Cowboys’ 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders this past Sunday, after he suffered an accident at his home that put him in concussion protocol. Evidently, he won’t be ready in time for this weekend’s game against Denver, and will now have to miss an extended period of time..

Moreover, Diggs spent the preseason on the physically unable to perform list, but started every other game of the regular season. He’s recorded 18 tackles this season.

After Dallas’ win over the Commanders this past weekend, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he spoke with Diggs about his concussion. He declined to reveal how the two-time Pro Bowler suffered the injury.

“I don’t know the combination of the injury and how it impacted, regarding concussion issue, I’m not sure that I know the detail of how that happened,” Jones said, via Jeff Kolb of FOX 4 News. “He said what happened, and I’m not saying that didn’t happen.

“But a lot of times, you’re not the best viewer of what happened to you. … Yeah, no, I won’t get into that, but the bottom line is that I do expect him back.”

Alas, Diggs has battled a slew of injuries in recent years. After signing a five–year, $97 million contract in 2023, Diggs tore his ACL in practice only two weeks into the regular season. He missed the remainder of the season.

In 2024, Diggs remained healthy for most of the season but missed two games due to a groin injury. Ultimately, Diggs underwent another knee injury on the same leg he’d torn his ACL in the previous season and missed the rest of the season.

Now, Diggs is facing a lingering concussion issue. Despite Diggs’ absence on Sunday, the Cowboys’ defense looked excellent against the Commanders. Washington only recorded 341 total yards against Dallas.

Additionally, the Cowboys squeezed two turnovers out of the Commanders. While discussing Diggs’ injury, Jones noted how well the team played without him on the field.

“What we did see is we played pretty well out there,” Jones said. “So, I don’t know the status of Diggs as we move forward, but I feel better about being able to play if we don’t have him out there.”

On Sunday, the Cowboys will square off against the Broncos at 3:25 p.m. CT. The game will air live on CBS, and it’ll be paramount to both teams to get a win. Diggs will be watching from the sidelines.
