Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs didn’t play in Dallas’ 44-22 win over the Commanders on Sunday. He was in concussion protocol after suffering an accident at his house.

Diggs also won’t be available this weekend for the Cowboys’ showdown against the Denver Broncos. On Friday, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones opened up on Diggs’ injury.

“He’s had several things going on that pertain to past injuries. So there are things we’re looking at there,” Jones said, per The Athletic‘s Jon Machota. “We haven’t ruled that out (injured reserve). We’ll look at that tomorrow as well.”

Diggs spent the preseason on the physically unable to perform list, but had started every game of the regular season before suffering his concussion. He’s recorded 18 tackles this season.

After Dallas’ win over the Commanders this past weekend, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he spoke with Diggs about his concussion. However, Jones declined to reveal how the two-time Pro Bowler suffered the injury.

“I don’t know the combination of the injury and how it impacted, regarding concussion issue, I’m not sure that I know the detail of how that happened,” Jones said, via Jeff Kolb of FOX 4 News. “He said what happened, and I’m not saying that didn’t happen. But a lot of times, you’re not the best viewer of what happened to you. … Yeah, no, I won’t get into that, but the bottom line is that I do expect him back.”

Trevon Diggs has battled a slew of injuries in recent years. After signing a a five–year, $97 million contract in 2023, Diggs tore his ACL in practice only two weeks into the regular season. He missed the remainder of the season.

In 2024, Diggs remained healthy for most of the season, but missed two games due to a groin injury. Ultimately, Diggs underwent another knee injury on the same leg he’d torn his ACL in the previous season and missed the rest of the season

Stephen Jones said the team is considering placing Diggs on injured reserve, which would sideline him for at least four games. Alas, the EVP shot down the idea that Diggs has played his last game for the Cowboys.

“We haven’t even gone there,” Jones said. “We’re just obviously taking this thing week to week, trying to see how we can get him 100% healthy to where he could help us.”

On Sunday, the Cowboys will square off against the Denver Broncos at 3:25 p.m. CT. The game will air live on CBS.
