Trevor Lawrence, Christian Kirk combine for fourth-down touchdown vs Cowboys

For Christian Kirk, scoring big touchdowns at AT&T Stadium used to be fairly routine when his Texas A&M Aggies opened the SEC schedule against Arkansas in Arlington.
But on Saturday, Kirk caught his touchdown via fourth down while wearing a Jaguars jersey against the Dallas Cowboys. Trevor Lawrence threw a perfect ball to Kirk, who beat two trailing Cowboy defensive backs.
It was the first score for either team, with Jacksonville taking an early, 8-0 lead.
The last time Christian Kirk played at AT&T Stadium as an Aggie, he beat the Razorbacks on offense and returns, amassing 236 total yards and three touchdowns. Keep in mind that the first time he played there, Kirk caught eight passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. That included the game-winner on a flag route in overtime.
Lawrence also has great memories from playing in one of the NFL’s grandest palaces. As a freshman, he started the semifinal game for Clemson, leading the Tigers to a 30-3 victory over Notre Dame. Clemson then beat Alabama for the national title.

But now these two are established pros. Lawrence, who was the first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, is in his third season with the Jaguars. He helped lead Jacksonville to the playoffs last year. They came-from-behind to knock off the Chargers before falling to the Chiefs, the eventual Super Bowl champs.
The Cardinals selected Christian Kirk in the second round of the 2018 draft. He signed with the Jaguars last year. And he and Lawrence definitely have on-field chemistry. Kirk caught 84 passes for 1,108 yards.
Jacksonville coach Doug Pederson decided to play his starters for the first quarter against the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Dallas coach Mike McCarthy kept his first-teamers on the bench. So Jaguars fans should give a nod to the first TD of the exhibition season, while hoping for many more to come once the regular season starts, But the play came against the second-team Dallas D.
