Ty Dillon reacts to Denny Hamlin fuming at him for racing hard at Dover

Ty Dillon knew that Denny Hamlin was mad at him for how he raced at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday. On the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Dillon reacted to Hamlin fuming at him while he was battling John Hunter Nemechek.
“Denny got mad at me on the radio,” Ty Dillon said while laughing. “There was a situation where we came off pit road. We beat him off pit road on the green flag stop. Denny was right behind me, but John Hunter was a lap down. I was in front of the lucky dog, and I had to race him hard there. If caution comes out, we flip it. We’re a lap ahead.
“It was tough racing for our little spot back there. 20-21st, obviously it’s not where we want to be, but it meant something going into this week. It turned out pretty good there at the end, and we needed that rain delay. It was pretty grim until the rain came out. He was five spots ahead of us before that. When it came out, we were equal tires and nailed the last restart.”
Ty Dillon was battling John Hunter Nemechek for a spot in the NASCAR in-Season Challenge championship. When the Dover race was all said and done, Dillon finished 20th and Nemechek finished 21st.

Denny Hamlin called Ty Dillon a ‘f***ing idiot’
Denny Hamlin was angry at Dillon because he was trying to lap him coming off green flag pit stops. “I’m just burning my s**t up with this f***ing idiot,” Hamlin said of Dillon, via Davey Segal. Hamlin then said he was “cutting me off” and “running me in the s**t.”
Hamlin ended up winning the race, so his incident with Dillon didn’t impact his finish. But the interesting thing about all this is it was Dillon who eliminated Hamlin in the first round of the In-Season Challenge to go on this big run. Hamlin entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed, and Dillon was the last seed (No. 32).
Ty Dillon will now face Ty Gibbs in the In-Season Challenge championship at the Brickyard 400 on Sunday. After the race, Hamlin said he’s pulling for Gibbs since they are teammates at Joe Gibbs Racing.
