Ty Dillon had a strong message for Zane Smith after the NASCAR All-Star Race Open on Sunday. During an interview, Dillon said he approached Smith and told him, “If he wrecks me again, I’m just going to beat his ass.”

Dillon explained what happened to cause the wreck. “Coming off [Turn] 4, I think I gave him plenty of room, and he just doors me halfway down the straightaway,” he said about Zane Smith. “…There’s something about the younger guys they never had to deal with consequences.”

Ty Dillon returned to the Cup Series as a full-time driver for Kaulig Racing. It’s not been a strong season for the 33-year-old as he has not won a race or recorded a top-10 finish. In his NASCAR Cup Series career, Dillon has posted seven top-10 finishes and has yet to win a race.

Dillon returned to the Cup Series full-time after driving for multiple teams last year. This year, Dillon replaced Daniel Hemric, who is currently competing full-time in the Truck Series.

Ty Dillon is looking to do big things with Kaulig Racing

“I am incredibly grateful for another opportunity to run full-time in the Cup Series, and to be able to do it with the men and women at Kaulig Racing means a lot to me personally,” Dillon said in a press release in September. “They gave me a chance this year to go out and prove myself in a handful of starts. The team and I were able to connect early on and we put together a few strong runs in the No. 16. I’m really looking forward to what 2025 brings with this team. We have a bright future ahead of us and we’re going to give it our all each and every race next season.”

“Ty has done a really great job for us this year in our No. 16 car, competing in a limited schedule,” team owner, Matt Kaulig said. “He has been consistent each time he gets in the car and has really helped our program grow this season. We think he will be instrumental in continuing our Cup program in alliance with Richard Childress Racing.”
